Welcome to Drawing Life; a glimpse into the minutiae of daily life from the suburbs of Melbourne

A beautiful Melbourne morning. People out walking, cycling, parachuting and having sessions with their personal trainers.

Watching Desperate Housewives and eating cake

My favorite cafe has undergone renovation. They have a new menu (todays pick Nush Muesli), new chairs in the courtyard and most importantly the coffee is good. The water is served in a twisted vodka bottle.

Thank God the tennis is over. What a fantastic game, duel, contest whatever one wants to call it. The sustained level of energy over almost 6 hours between only two individuals, not a team. Exhausting to just watch but thoroughly entertaining.

A drawing of Hugo, the armchair with remote control and my sewing machine on an old primary school desk that I found somewhere. Still experimenting with pens. There are too many to choose from. The ones I’ve used here are the Uniball Drawing pens that come in a packet with a variety of sizes (fine liners). They move smoothly across the surface of the paper in this sketchbook.

Chips and water (and sauce of course) is in my mind not a very good mix. However it is coming to the end of school holidays and one will do whatever it takes to pacify a bored child (or in this case a kidult). The figure drawing is really bad, but that is what happens when you are in a hurry and it is a hot 35 degree day.

Yesterday I bought some ink to use for coloring. At $12.90 a bottle I only chose four, a yellow, a turquoise, a red and a magenta. I already had some sepia so I have toned the brightness down with that.
