Friday Night

Favorite Friday night with nothing on. Just Lounging in the lounge room, watching footy, drawing and playing games on the iPad. And given the horrid weather, the open fire well alight.

On the iPad

I am back again…. and using my Lamy Fountain pen with Black Noodlers ink. The pen is sticking a bit on this paper (the sketchbook was a freebie with the new pen and the paper feels just ever so slightly waxy). When the pen sticks or stops flowing it changes and slows down the drawing process. This is a problem I need to address.

Vicroads …Dandenong

Today I spent two and a bit hours at Vicroads Dandenong with my 18 year old as he sat for his drivers license test. His ‘Red P”s

A lady with a bright yellow vest scrutinised his log book and  deliberated about the running total of hours for each page.

She consulted someone out the back and her calculator.

She flicked back and forth, from the front to the back, verifying signatures.

She answered emphatically “No” ,when I asked if I should go with them during the driving part of the test…(reasonable given it was my car?)

The seconds ticked by like hours until she finally declared it acceptable. “You can burn it now” she said to me.

Together, the lady and my son with the keys to my car, took off  alone, to conquer stop signs, three point turns and school zone speed restrictions.

After forty five minutes they returned.

My 18 year old now has his ‘Red P’ ‘s and I can burn the 120 hours of my time, that was his log book.

Monday Morning

Monday Morning!

That sense of heaviness as one approaches the week knowing it is going to be cold, and that mid year exams are looming. It is revision week at school for the bigger kids.( Not for the one drawn above though; he is still in the Dick and Dora phase of learning how to read and write).

As much and all as it is cold and grey and wet, it was great to actually stack the fireplace with wood yesterday afternoon and light the fire. Sitting around on Sunday night in front of the fire watching the Tigers win, followed by News and then by sixty minutes was a pleasure.

Next week I will get more organised and have a home cooked meal instead of the home delivery Thai that we ordered in.
